Sylvain Fezzoli – Ceramist

Normandie – 1977

Sylvain Fezzoli is a ceramist who creates decorative objects and lamps in porcelain. After a career in social work, he has changed his career path to the arts and crafts, completing two C.A.P in ceramic turning and decoration. He then set up his own workshop in 2009, where he creates pieces for private customers in France and abroad ever since.

Porcelain has become his creative medium and lithophane his signature. To create, he makes sketches that lead his hands over the porcelain. He then kneads the material, passing it through a router to smooth it out. Finally, he sculpts and fires it.

2021 – 1^st prize Artisan créateur de lumière du GIL and d’Ateliers d’Art de France, Maison et Objet, for his piece La Nébuleuse du Cocon.

2018 – 2^nd prize Artisan créateur de lumière du GIL and d’Ateliers d’Art de France, Maison et Objet, for his piece Bubble Fore.

Research and innovation

Sylvain creates his pieces from end to end, from kneading the porcelain to electrification and modelling. Each creation is unique, thanks to the graphics and decorative elements inspired by nature and the seabed. His work is environmentally friendly since every material used is natural.

Transmission

As the President of the Association Tout Terre and driven by the desire to promote ceramics, he has lectured in schools and specialist circles about his skills. He welcomes many students on introductory, training, or retraining courses. He also coaches trainees in the validation of their DNMADE (National Diploma in Art and Design).

After suffering from a work accident in June 2023, Sylvain Fezzoli’s right arm has been immobilised after surgery. He approached the Fondation Rémy Cointreau to help him continue his activity in full possession of his abilities, and to purchase two adapted tools: an electric crusting machine and a plodder for preparing and recycling porcelain.
