Ludivine Loursel – Glass blower and art bronzer

Normandie – 1994

Ludivine Loursel creates unique pieces from lighting and sculptures to art objects. Her artistic signature lies in the fusion of two materials forged by fire: metal and glass. This passion ignited during her teenage years after encountering metal sculptors and scenographers at a street arts festival, where she volunteered her time. It was within this team that creation through flame, fire, and the transformation of materials became essential to her artistic process.

After studying art history, Ludivine continued her training at the École Boulle, where she obtained a CAP in bronze fitting in 2014, followed by a DMA in metal design and application in 2016. Her expertise led her to Jérémy Maxwell Wintrebert’s workshop, where she set up a metal workshop in exchange for an apprenticeship in glassblowing. From then on, she worked with both mediums. To perfect her mastery of glass, she undertook a four-month specialized training program in glass sculpting in Denmark.

In 2022, Ludivine Loursel opened her own workshop in Normandy, where she brings to life her dreamlike creation.

Research and innovation

Through art and craft, and the two know-how she mastered, Ludivine creates works that glorify technique through the emotion of gesture and creative intuition… It’s through the transformative act of engaging with her chosen materials that Ludivine’s ideas and sensations find tangible form. She uses recycled glass and reuses her brass off-cuts from Europeans suppliers.

Transmission

Ludivine is passionate about sharing her know-how and will open her workshop to the public during the JEMA. She has trained a dozen apprentices at JWW and currently mentors two interns. Her work has been showcased at Maison & Objet for two years, as well as at Révélation, Souffle (VMA), and Inspirations Normandie. She also participated in a forging symposium with the ETTO association.

Ludivine is taking the opportunity to expand her workshop and enhance her know-how by purchasing the equipment of a retiring Corsican glassmaker. She has requested help from the Foundation to help her with part of this acquisition.
