Laurel Parker’s work is entirely artisanal. To create, she uses both traditional bookbinding techniques and new technologies, and surrounds herself with other craftsmen such as printers, gilders, trimmers, and cabinetmakers. In 2018, she set up her own publishing house. Thanks to this, her work is of the highest quality and extreme precision.
Since 1996, Laurel Parker has been running workshops at art schools in France and abroad. These include the INP and the AA School of Architecture. She is also a member of juries and takes part in conferences (VAE jury at ENSP Arles, conferences at Viva Villa in 2018, at the Maison Européenne de la Photo, etc.). Her topics focus on book publishing, and graphic and design techniques. She also trains interns and apprentices several times a year as part of the Prix Savoir-faire en transmission. Every year, Laurel Parker welcomes the public to her studio during JEMA.
Fondation Rémy Cointreau has supported Laurel Parker in 2019 with the acquisition of an electric paper cutter. This saves her precious time in cutting paper and enables her to offer new forms of publishing.
