Born into a family of artists and craftsmen, Juliette Vivien journey with ceramics began in childhood, guided by her grandfather. This invaluable heritage is something she cherishes, still employing the very tools he entrusted to her. Following her exploration of the art of miniature at ESAA Duperré in Paris, she was mentored by sculptor Fanny Ferré. Frédéric Mulatier, a ceramicist-basket maker, has significantly contributed to her recent choice to develop monumental pieces partially fired with wood.
In 2018, Juliette launched her micro-enterprise, dedicating on the creation of luxury goods. Today, she creates extraordinary ornamental and utilitarian pieces for a selective professional market including interior designers, galleries, and luxury retailers.
In 2022-2023, Juliette received an order for 3,000 porcelain miniatures for a major luxury house. This ambitious project required over a year of intensive work and the support of an expanded team, including 10 interns and 4 independent ceramic artists.
2020 – Laureate of the « prix de la Jeune Création Métiers d’Art » from Ateliers d’Art de France.
Through openwork porcelain, she explores the limits of the material, playing with shapes, curves and openwork. After years dedicated to the precision of small-scale works, she now tackles monumental ceramic pieces, pushing the boundaries of what’s technically possible.
Driven by a commitment to sustainability, Juliette employs eco-conscious practices in her craft. She recycles her materials, minimizes water usage through a settling tank filtration system, and fuels her firings with reclaimed wood from a local carpenter. Whenever possible, she prioritizes French-sourced clay and pigments.
Juliette offers a variety of hands-on ceramic workshops and training sessions, teaching techniques such as molding, slipcasting, and the art of throwing porcelain. These workshops are held in Agen, Paris, and at her studio in Neufmoutiers-en-Brie. She also mentors young artisans through Artisans d’Avenir’s “Impulser” program.
In 2025, Juliette Vivien is seeking support from the Foundation to acquire a lathe equipped with a 40cm diameter diamond plate, which is essential for accurately surfacing the large sections of her monumental pieces, as well as a high-capacity potter’s wheel.
